Well, the shopping excursion without my friend Tina and with 2 little people attached at the hip was not necessarily the fun part, especially when I realized I needed to go back into the store to right a potential wrong!
I went to King Sooper's today to take advantage of their 3/$1 Kroger brand canned veggies (my favs are the corn and green beans). Well, I loaded up with 30 cans of each and then went on to get my $15 savings for buying 30 various items I would normally buy anyway. Well, 16 boxes of cereal (5 on clearance for have bent up boxes...like I care - my kid sits on them anyway!), 60 cans or corn/green beans, 1 mini lint remover from Scotch (free after coupon), 2 Orville Redenbacher 3 packs of popcorn, 3 cans of Hunt's petite diced tomatoes (on clearance for some minor dents...and I plan on using them immediately anyway), 1 can of Kroger brand diced tomatoes, 3 boxes of Betty Crocker Blueberry muffin mixes, 2 Glade scented candles (with my coupon I paid $1.25 each), Blueberry yummy bread from the bakery on clearance, almost 3 lbs of apples, 2 things of Tylenol (after coupon I paid 50 cents for each), 2 Ocello scrubbers, 6 Quaker mini rice cake snacks, + a pack of Skittles and M&Ms for the short people...my grand total was only $70.41 (actually I saved another $2.94 because I went back in because I miscounted and thought I had enough items for all $15 dollars back, I only got 28 items instead of 30. NO WAY was I walking out without making my money work for me! So, back in I went and managed to get 2 more things (2 of my 6 Quakers rice cakes) and they paid me $2.94 - I got the $5 reward - cost of the goodies)

At King Soopers, I took advantage of the canned veggie deal again and got 48 cans of corn, 36 cans of green beans, 4 boxes of Orville Redenbacher popcorn, 4 boxes of Lucky Charms, 3 boxes of various brands of General Mills cereal, 5 boxes of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate mixes, 3 boxes of Trix, 2 Fruit by the Foot boxes (one was free with a coupon I had pulled off one of the cereal boxes in the aisle, + I had $.60 of one from Shortcuts + another manufacturer's coupon - can't remember the amount off hand, probably $1/2), a Macaroni Grill boxed meal (on clearance for $2.49 - $1/1 coupon I had = $1.49), 2 Ocello scrubbers, 2 Hunts diced tomato cans, 3 bags of candy corn/pumpkins for $.33/each, 1 10 pack box of PopSecret popcorn on clearance for $3.39, 4 boxes of Tylenol caplets (with 3 coupons for $2/1), 3 Pez candy dispensers for $.39 each, 2 bags of old fashioned hard candy ($.69 each), 2 bags of Halls cough drops (had a BOGO free coupon +$1/2 coupon to add to it), a canister of Quaker Oats, a bottle of V8 fusion (on clearance for something like $1.25), a box of Kellogg's Raisin bran on clearance for $1.59 and I had a coupon for $1/1 (so only $.59 for the box), 2 bags of Quaker mini rice cakes, & 2 cans of Carnation evaporated milk.
I had a coupon for practically EVERYTHING I bought but now I can't remember half of it. In short, here was my breakdown on what I saved:
$41.89 (mfg coupons)
$5.25 (multiplied coupons)
$98.17 (Sooper Card coupon savings)
= $145.31
*I saved 70% of my order!!
We then headed to Walmart to catch some deals. By this point, my short people were tired. But, we pressed on! Over there I got 12 boxes of cereal (6 of which were Chex for only $1.66/box without coupons!), 2 bags of Halls cough drops ($1.18 to start with plus my BOGO free coupon and my $1/2 coupon to boot = $.18/each bag), 1 box of Bisquick, 5 boxes of Betty Crocker potatoes in a box for $.98/each + some coupon amount that I can't remember), 2 taco seasoning mixes (needed), 6 Pillsbury cookie mixes, q-tips (needed), 1 dolphin sandwich cutter (had to for the kids :)), 1 loaf of bread, 3 Goodie hair accessories (with 3 $2/1 coupons), 2 cans of mandarin oranges, 4 spagettios, 2 bags of frozen chicken breasts, 2 trial size J&J first aid kits, and 3 cans of frosting for a grand total of....$57.73 ($25.78 off of original total in mfg coupons)
Overall, I think the initial day out on the town with Tina went great! And yes, she is available to join you on your shopping trips out too for a nominal fee of $150/hour :) She's well worth every penny!
